For Immediate Release: The Sumner Pops takes music to the schools.

Mingling the best of music with good thoughts of social acceptance and personal confidence, the Sumner Pops presents Jan's Plan 2:  in a world of music and harmony, we rule  (the story continues) --a twenty-four-minute presentation accentuating the passion of music with the value of personal dedication and the glory of acceptance, all wrapped up in a great big bow of humor and entertainment. This tour will hit nine elementary schools in Gallatin , Bethpage and Westmoreland elementary schools from September 28 – October 4th.

Maestro Janet Clazzy will head up our ensemble.  Maestro Clazzy is the first female prima conductor in the state of Tennessee .  She will accompany the ensemble with her oboe and her WX-5 -wind machine (an instrument that blows and looks like a clarinet, creating up to 250 different sounds).  This instrument always fascinates children and adults alike.   She is very personable and has a great passion for the importance of music education in a balanced curriculum.

Jonathan Richard Cring, our in house composer, has been with the symphony since inception and creates all of the original, classical pop creations that the symphony has performed in the last three years. He is the author of eleven books, a Billboard Music Award winner and the composer of fourteen symphonic works. He has created an informative, exciting presentation to both inspire and muse the children in their knowledge of music and the orchestra.

The Sumner County symphony is pleased to be able to bring our music to the youth of Sumner County , demonstrating our motto “the people’s orchestra with a heart for the community”.

Last fall the orchestra performed the program "H.O.M.E" the history of musical entertainment before sixteen county elementary schools including a tour to the Roanoke , Virginia county school district. .

This event is made possible by a generous grant from the Gallatin Arts Council.
